Beruflicher Werdegang:
Masoumeh Qarakhani, born in 1977 in Isfahan, is an Iranian scholar of political sociology and social policy. She received her PhD in Political Sociology in 2011. Her doctoral dissertation, Analysis of Social Policy in Iran, employed a historical-institutionalist framework to examine the interplay among state capacity, political approach, and social policy in health, education, and housing in Iran from 1981 to 2009. From 2012 to 2016, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Research Institute for Socio-cultural Studies. She subsequently joined Allameh Tabataba'i University, where she was a faculty member from 2016 to 2022. In 2022, she received a DAAD award for a visiting research stay at Ruhr University Bochum, hosted by the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE). In 2025, she was awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship and joined the Institute for Social Movements (ISB) as a research fellow. Her research interests lie at the intersection of social policy, welfare, and sociology, with a particular focus on education and health policy, political sociology, and the sociology of science.
